Leather Seat Cover Kit Installations<\/strong>

\nI would like to thank those club members who replied to my request for advice on car seat upholsterers.
\nI checked out a couple of the most popular but eventually settled for \u201cWael\u2019s Upholstery\u201d, based on the experience of a very satisfied club member.
\nWael Aun, the owner, is a recent Syrian Immigrant; a very experienced master craftsman upholsterer now working hard to establish a business in Canada, so he was a worthy choice.
\n(Co-incidentally this Monday\u2019s Ottawa Citizen featured a front page an article on him and his family.)
\nI had him install the Moss leather seat kits that I had bought for my \u201966 MGB.
\nHe did an excellent job, especially given that the Moss kits are not the most expensive on the market.
\nHis price was very competitive and the workmanship and attention to detail was better than other samples I had seen.

\nSoft Top Installations<\/strong>

\nI highly recommend Cam at Navan Auto Glass and Upholstery for the installation of soft tops for your MG.
\nThis is the third top I've had installed professionally and is by far the neatest, cleanest and best fitting installation to date.
\nThere are not a lot of places to choose from that can or will do our tops.
\nCam came recommended by 2 places that installed tops but not for MG's.
\nI found Cam was very knowledgeable, providing valuable erection, storage, care and maintenance instructions for the top.
\nIt appears to be a one person operation with access to a bay on Canotek Road.
\nI provided the top and Cam installed it for $260 total.
\nThis may be high but worth the price to have it done right.

\nI bought a seat cover set from these people (link below) and so far am quite impressed. Perhaps club members would be interested in this link below. I saved over $100 on a kit for my B, delivered to my door.

\nThe order is shipped from the UK. I paid by Paypal in Cdn. dollars. Shipping by UPS was about $60 and duty and HST about $30 each. My total all in was about $375 while the OEM for my B is about $400 from VB or Moss without shipping and HST. My kit is a variation on OEM, which I prefer, while others are OEM. It arrived in good condition and appears to be of good quality.

\nOn the recommendation of another club member, this spring I took the car to Mr. Hao Ly and explained the problem experienced with Blue Tent. He said he understood the problem and would try to repair the damage. He called me the next day to say that the wooden header was badly deteriorated and had rotted away in some places and could not understand why the man who had done the work originally had not called to tell me that a new header was required. He did manage to fix the top sufficiently for me to go on Cheepo-Cheapo to Brandon and I ordered a new header bar before leaving. On arrival back in Ottawa I took the new bar to Mr Ly and he installed it correctly with the flap over the top of the windshield. It cost me to have additional work done, but at least the top is on the way it is supposed to be.

\nDoes good work but might be considered to be pricey.

\nI had the new top for my MGB done by the man at Blue Tent and he did a great job, so when I had to replace the top for my MGTF he was the man I went to. He said, \u201cif you leave the existing top, I can fit the new one with no problem.\u201d I took him at his word and picked up the top and frame a few days later. The top did not fit well at all. Material hung down between the rails etc and the fit on the front was done incorrectly. I took it back and he said he would fit it, but he was unsure he had enough material. Some days later he called and said the car was ready. I returned to find the slack had been taken out, but the installation on the front, top of the windshield was still incorrect in that there should have been a flap over the front of the chrome on the top front of the windshield. He said \u201cI have been doing this for over 25 years and know what I am doing and what I have done is correct and won\u2019t leak.\u201d He was, of course, wrong and coming home from Stowe last year it was wetter in the car than out. I would not deal with him again.\u201d

\nI had the new convertible top for my MGB installed at General Auto Glass and Upholstery on Clyde Avenue. I recalled that they had replaced a windshield for me some years back and did a good job. They charged me $100 for the installation.<\/p>\n
