OMGC – ROUND THE LAKES TOUR 2012

The OMGC Round the Lakes Tour 2012 will take place from May 12th to May 16th 2012 and will involve five days driving and site seeing including visits to the Motor Museum in Detroit and the Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland and possibly the Little British Car Company Offices in Dearborne. The drive will go from Ottawa to Buffalo on day one, Buffalo to Cleveland on day two, Cleveland to Detroit on day three, Detroit to Orillia on day four and Orillia to Ottawa on day five. Five days on the road with four hotel nights. The route is pretty well planned out already with each participant taking charge of a day, planning the route, lunch stop and hotel accommodation. It is entirely possible that our MGs will be accompanied by a 1954 Studebaker which in turn could make our individual loads a bit lighter as he has plenty of room.

Each summer the North American MGA Register (NAMGAR) holds an annual Get Together, or GT, which draws members from all over North America for a fun filled celebration. On average 200 to 300 people and as many as 120 MGA’s, Magnettes, and MGA variants attend this event, which is held at a different location around the continent each year.

Here is some information, from club member Quiller Graham, about a big annual event over the Labour Day Weekend. Several folks have been to this event and endorse it fully – they say it’s better than VARAC races at Watkins Glen by far. There are no club events on the Labour Day Weekend, so here is an option for members who are keen on Concourse and Vintage race cars – over 300 cars expected in the paddock and/or on the track. There is also a special MG vintage race class. Lime Rock Park, CT is about 650 KM from Ottawa. If there is much interest maybe someone going can coordinate a convoy.

The Ottawa Valley Jog – 2011 Edition
The preparations for the Ottawa Valley Jog 2011 are now well under way. This event in August is a trip along the mighty St. Lawrence river with stops at sites of historic interest, a unique winery, lunch at Bud’s On The Bay in Brockville and an overnight at Caiger’s resort along the river, complete with dinner, and breakfast the next morning. There will also be the opportunity to stroll around historic Brockville. Accommodation costs are $119(+tax) for a room for 2. Dinner and breakfast at Caiger’s is $35 per person.
