MGB Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Problem & Solution

Published by under Miscellaneous

MGB Fuel Guage Sending Unit Problem & Solution:
I’ve been dickering with the original fuel sender on my new fuel tank but it behaves as it always did: it tells lies to the gauge, which then shows me 1/2 when full and E when half full and leaving me in suspense for the remaining miles.

Wiper Blades For MGBs

Published by under MG Services

Michael Cooke told me about his MGB wiper blade incident:
=========================================================
Len, as you will remember I lost a wiper blade travelling to your tech session.
It just separated and flew off. So today I went hunting.
Tried Moss online and got this result (US dollars, plus shipping plus, plus, plus)

Looking for something else I popped into the:
A & C Auto Parts Ltd/Auto Plus
2525 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C 0E3
Coincidentally the Bosch rep followed me in and I jokingly told him I was interested in some Bosch wiper blades.
He looked on his tablet for 'MGB 1973' and came up with the code (10 inch 40710, or 3 397 004 439-34s).
Meanwhile the A&C owner was already in the store room pulling them from stock (no delivery charge!).
I paid CAN$26.61 for 3, all-in.
I’ve fitted the replacement and can say it works but is a little chunkier than the OEM all-metal ones.
Rats, it’ll probably add a millisecond to my 0-something speed 😉
Cheers, Michael.

And I'm sure many of us have been doing the same. Meanwhile, there are those folks, such as Rob Staruch (former owner Miniman), who have quite strong opinions that Shell Super is the best choice since it is Ethanol Free and has sufficient octane.
