Here is a bit of a summary of the information gathered (in no particular sequence) about Winter Storage:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warehouse in Bells Corners.
The contact is Jack Jordon at 564-2707.
2005 price was $335 for six months.
Does not open and prepare the warehouse until the first part of October.
It is a warehouse - no heating, no lighting but it is weather tight.

Update from Don Ferguson: Jack Jordan's rates in Bells Corners this year (09/10) are $399.
He normally has a waiting list, but the service is excellent once you get in.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barn north of Manotick
Contact Don Booth at 692-4750.
2005 price was $250 for six months.
The building is a former barn with good circulation, unheated and is full of cars over the winter.

Update from Terry Haines:
Unfortunately Don Booth with the barn car storage just north of Manotick died last winter and the property is up for sale. His nephew, Brian Booth wants to set up car storage in his barn which is east of Greely. I have inspected the facilities and they look good, but have not yet made a decision on whether or not to store my car there.
He wants $400.00 per storage season.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barn like structure near Merrickville.
Contact ?
Gravel floor, dry and well ventilated although not heated.
New barn-like structure (top is a sort of canvas and the lower walls are made of concrete about 4 feet high).
The site is guarded by two heavy steel locked gates.
Charges in 2005 were $2 per square foot - works out to just under $300 for the season for two sports cars.
In and out privileges, the owner is content to wait until clients are ready to retrieve vehicles.

Update from Jim Bloomfield:
Roger no longer owns the storage building. New owner Steve at 613-883-7534.
Now charges $35 a month which averages out to $180 a season.
He is storing cars on weekends in November with take-out time in general for April.
His name is Steve and he can be reached at 613-878-7534.
He also stores vehicles such as RVs and trailers.
Has room outside for items that don't need protection against the elements.
Has another building for self-storage (household items, boxes etc) so you could do all your storing in one place!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Garage at Saville Apartments.
Contact Gordon for information at 224-4177.
Located just behind Carlingwood Shopping Center.
The storage space is very good, underground, asphalt floor, locked.
2005 price was $375 (from Oct 29 to Apr 29)

Update from Gordon Timbers:
Saville apartments have changed hands and are now charging $100 per month Nov to Apr. (ouch)
By comparison, Boyds are now charging $125 per month.
I think I should buy a car stacker and keep the cars at home!

There is a great place in Masham QC, near Wakefield. I have always stored my cars there. If anyone is interested give me a call (819-459-3090) and I will give you the info.

From Tom Roos:
I put my car in storage with Classic Car Storage owned by Louis Bettencourt 4806 Bank St. Gloucester Tel 8223355.
Louis has 27 classic cars and is just finishing a 9000 square foot storage facility in Vernon, Ont.
Will be heated, protected by guard dogs and cost $500.00 for 6 months.

A neighbor put his car in the old Stanley Tool facility in Smith Falls but I have no details but the cost was $125 for six months.

Also the Metcalfe Fairgrounds stores cars, boats, campers in their fair buildings for $300.00 for six months.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Andy Bounsall:
Another place, where I stored my car one winter, is Somerset Towers on Carling Avenue beside Carlingwood shopping center. Contact Linda Fortin 613-729-1500 (stowers@clvgroup.com). They rent space in the 4th sub-level of their underground garage. It is a dry, secure, monitored facility which has it's own separate entrance. The garage is not heated, but because it is underground it gets cold but not freezing in the winter. Their season extends from Nov 1 through April 30. Price in 2004 was $350.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Quiller Graham:
Large former dairy barn on Flewellyn Rd close to Ashton. Concrete floor, not heated, just behind farmhouse so pretty secure. Many good quality cars/boats stored there. Cost for 2009 (Oct – May) $10 per foot ($140-150 for MGB). You must sign a simple waiver/non-liability clause. About 6 spots left as of 15 Nov 09. Contact: Blair or Val @ 613-253-3469.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Paul Merriam:
Rick Faubert has a modern steel shed near Spencerville. I stored my car there over last winter and was very satisfied. His rates are reasonable too. Worth the drive to Spencerville down old hwy 16. I've asked Rick to contact you directly but wanted to let you know that I vouch for him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Barry Wright:
My TD is in storage with Canada Classic Car Storage (Joe Bettencourt at 613 822 3355). $500 a season for heated facility, and I was pleased with it last year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Wayne Kilrea:
I store my "B" in a steel shipping container, parked in the back of my counrty lot. The container was purchased from Wayne Rowe on the Carp Road and he has more of them (delivery was inlcuded in the price (8 x 20); with respect to by laws, use of the containers out here in the country is quite common; my neighbour has two or three of them; no, I did not ask if I could have one. Fortunately, the property is large enough and I had the perfect spot between cedars and evergreens to put it so that it can barely be seen by myself or my neighbours. I am not aware of any restrictions, but in truth I did not ask. In hindsight, would have been better to check. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Jim Devine:
I am an OMGC member and MGB Vintage racer and use containers for excellent car storage. I also sell 20’ steel containers and I stock them locally if anyone is interested. My company’s name is Rivendale Containers 613-726-7610.

From Michael Turnbull:
I just recovered my B from its wintering at a local farm. I could not previously recommend this farm but now that I've had a complete wintering let me recommend Ross Mowat most highly. I purchased a car cover from Princess Auto for $50 and paid Ross $300 for the winter. I placed numerous dryer sheets in and around the car and found no sign of critters. Ross also serviced my snow blower for only $50. The farm is about a mile south of Fallowfield on Old Richmond Rd.
